Camera Inspections.

When buying a new home, it is always a great idea to get the sewer line inspected. Many sewer lines are compromised and can fail only months after move in. If problems are found in the sewer line before purchasing, this can help to capture funds to get the sewer line fixed and ensure you do not have a back up right after moving in. We use high definition sewer camera that will beat the competition to be able to full see the quality of the sewer pipe.

Process

When we arrive, we will bring a camera, monitor, and some hand tools. Most access points for televising the sewer will be in the basement or outside in the yard. Once we identify the cleanout access needed, we will remove the cap and insert the camera into the line. Water is run during the insertion of the camera to lubricate and allow for debris to be washed off the head of the camera.

Timeline

Televising a sewer line can be a 15 minute job if the line is in great condition and no problems are present, but we typically suggest setting aside 1-2 hours in total, from the time we come out, televise the line and go over options to clean, repair, or replace piping if necessary.

FAQs

  • Sewer televising, also known as sewer inspection or sewer CCTV (Closed-Circuit Television) inspection, is a method used to assess the condition of underground sewer pipes and drains. Here's how it works:

    • Camera Insertion | A small, waterproof camera is inserted into the sewer line through an access point, such as a manhole or cleanout. The camera is attached to a flexible cable that can be pushed or pulled through the pipe.

    • Remote Operation | The camera is remotely operated from the surface, allowing technicians to navigate it through the sewer line. As the camera moves, it captures high-resolution video footage of the interior of the pipe.

    • Real-Time Monitoring | The captured video feed is transmitted in real-time to a monitor above ground, allowing technicians to see the condition of the sewer pipe instantly. They can observe any issues such as cracks, blockages, root intrusions, or other types of damage.

    • Assessment | Technicians analyze the video footage to assess the overall condition of the sewer line. They look for signs of deterioration, structural damage, or any other problems that might impede the flow of wastewater.

    • Documentation | The inspection is often recorded for documentation purposes. Detailed reports, including the video footage and any identified issues, are generated. These reports are useful for maintenance planning and decision-making regarding necessary repairs or replacements.

Sewer televising is a crucial tool to proactively manage sewer systems. By identifying issues early, we can prevent major problems such as sewage backups, leaks, or collapses, ensuring the proper functioning of the sewer infrastructure and preventing environmental contamination.

  • Televising a sewer line can be a 15 min job, if the line is in great condition and no problems are present. We typically say it is best to set aside 1-2 hours, though, for us to come out, televise the line and go over options to clean, repair, or replace piping if necessary.

Done right the first time.
